Protein Food or Meat Allergies in Dogs and Cats
Hello–
Yesterday, I spoke with a lady who has extensive experience in holistic treatment for pets. She recommended MSM–not for joint health–but as a detoxifier–for our almost 13 pound 8 year old female bichon frise. While Meg is in good health, she does have allergies and sometimes licks her feet or legs. She eats Z/D Ultra, made by Hill’s, and is given only small raw carrots as a snack–no other food.
Meg is allergic to dairy, beef, chicken, venison, and salmon; we’re told she can tolerate the Hill’s because the protein is already broken down.
My question/s: I do not see any MSM in your small dog vitamin; is it there under another name? Also, several of the ingredients are derived from beef liver–and dessicated liver is listed. Would the beef ingredient contribute to Meg’s allergy issues?

My personal opinion on allergies in pets that are scratching and allergic to proteins is simple. Processed food sources! There are NO instances in nature of a carnivore ALLERGIC to raw proteins in meat, has anyone ever found wolves or bobcats running around with meat and grain allergies? Its ridiculous. The problem is that the wheat’s and rices and proteins in Pet food is over processed and stripped of most of the enzymes they contain that is designed to break down the proteins naturally and aid in digestion. From what we know, dogs, and some cats, typically do not naturally produce the correct enzymes to break down certain foods, like wheat and corn. When you take a feed-quality source of wheat and corn, and then cook and over process it — the naturally-occurring enzymes in the corn and wheat are destroyed, leaving the dog’s digestive system on its own to attempt to break those foods down. Without the natural occurring enzymes, a lot of dogs will have a problems trying to do this, which typically manifests itself with dry skin, sores, diarrhea, and other problems resulting from dog food allergies. We use human grade ingredients in A FDA human grade inspected facility. I would strongly recommend slowly putting your dog on a natural RAW un-processed dog food and give her Pawmax. Yes the possibility exists that if she is sensitive that she may have a reaction, but a lifetime of processed foods will not be easy to reverse. To be certain that he does not react to the proteins in Pawmax I would recommend getting the free sample and give it to her and watch for any additional itching, constipation or loss of appetite. Then discontinue use. Allergies in animals are almost always a direct result of processed foods and air borne (indoor ) allergens such as mold, carpet fibers etc….
